Paul Robert Keysar is a plein air oil painter as well as a studio artist. A member of the Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, he has always had a fondness for both nature and art. He is known for his classic representational oil paintings of landscapes, marine scenes and still lifes.
"As an artist, I am continually observing life around me. I am fascinated by the effect that light, atmosphere and weather have on landscapes." This fascination has led to a determination to preserve in his paintings the farms and rural countryside in his home state of Maryland and throughout the country. "My goal is to capture in my paintings this wonderous land which God has created for us to enjoy."
Paul started his formal art training at the age of 14 with lessons at The Art League in Alexandria, Virginia. In 2000, he completed four years of fine arts training at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia where he was awarded a prestigious scholarship. He continued another year of study from 1997 - 1998 under nationally known portrait and landscape artist Carolyn Egeli. Paul's greatest historic artist influences are Winslow Homer, Corot, and Constable.
Paul Keysar's has exhibited in numerous regional juried shows, the Adkins Arboretum 2006 Art Competition, the Montpelier Arts Center Annual Juried Art Exhibition and the International Juried Art Exhibition, "Brush with Art" to name a few.
